Light, gentle and grassy — the softest side of Scotch.
South of the Highland line, the Lowlands make the gentlest malts in Scotland. Historically light and often triple-distilled, they earned the affectionate nickname 'the Lowland Ladies' for their soft, delicate character — a natural starting point for anyone new to whisky.
Long a quiet region with only a handful of survivors, the Lowlands are now the busiest frontier of Scotch's craft revival, with a wave of new distilleries — Kingsbarns, Daftmill, Lindores Abbey, Clydeside and more — reawakening the area.
What Lowland whisky tastes like
Grass, fresh-cut hay, lemon and honeysuckle; light-bodied, soft and clean, with gentle malt sweetness and little to no smoke.
